MicroDentistry (Air Abrasion): No Needle,  No Drill,  No Fear Dentistry

We are pleased to introduce our newest techniques that can frequently bypass the dreaded needle and awful drill! The techniques are called "air abrasion" and "MicroDentistry."

Air Abrasion is a relatively new practice in which your dentist uses a gentle spray of an air-and-powder mix that removes tooth decay. The dentist can control the speed and pressure of both the air and powder -- usually making the procedure completely comfortable. In most cases, the drill is not even used. And, because in these cases usually there is no discomfort, we do not have to give the patient an anesthetic.

MicroDentistry is the philosophy and practice of finding and treating decay as early as possible, or removing as little tooth structure as possible, of making the smallest possible  restorations (fillings)  and of  assuring that those  restorations are  esthetically

pleasing. Placed, one-appointment fillings are shaded to match the tooth and bonded to the tooth for added At the slightest hint of tooth decay, we will put a "caries detection agent" on the suspicious tooth. This colored liquid is designed to identify the position and extent of decay -- even that which is not visible to the naked eye. Once diagnosed, we then can usually take care of the problem immediately -- often in less than 10 minutes. Early detection means early treatment. We are talking about decay here, tooth rot! Why wait for it to spread; why wait for the cavity to get bigger? We can take care of it today, giving you healthy teeth.
